Making room for silence: the Project For Building philosophy in acoustic insulation

The comfort of a building is not only something you see, it is also something you can hear. Or rather, it is also the absence of noise that defines the quality of a space.
At Project For Building, our move into the world of acoustics did not happen by chance, but as a natural evolution of our core mission: constant research into recycled plastic and rubber for sustainable construction.
This positive cycle of material regeneration has developed into one of the highest-performing ranges on the market: the DAMP system.
Why did we focus on acoustics? Residential wellbeing
Insulation is not just a technical factor, it is residential wellbeing.
Designing for silence means improving quality of life, sleep and concentration.
We applied our “virtuous circle” of material recycling to create solutions that not only respect the environment, but also guarantee excellent performance.
Our research led us to develop a formula in which regenerated material is not a compromise, but the secret behind superior elastic mass.
Made from recycled tyres and noble polymers, it is able to dampen vibrations that traditional materials cannot stop.
The standard and the value: acoustic classification and regulations
Building acoustic regulations, mainly governed by Prime Ministerial Decree of 5 December 1997, establish the minimum insulation requirements that different types of buildings must meet
But there is more: the acoustic classification of buildings (according to UNI 11367) makes it possible to assign a “rating” to a building, similar to an energy class. A Class 1 building not only offers superior comfort, but also gains greater property value.
The DAMP System is designed precisely to help designers achieve these high-performance classes, turning a regulatory requirement into a competitive advantage.
DAMP SYSTEM VS TRADITIONAL SYSTEMS
Insulation vs absorption: let’s make it clear
Conscious design makes the difference. People often search online for “soundproof panels” meaning the ones hung in restaurants to reduce echo. Those are sound-absorbing panels.
The DAMP System, on the other hand, works on the structure itself. We do not intervene when the noise is already in the room: we act at the core of walls and floors during construction or renovation to physically prevent the passage of sound and vibrations.
Real insulation is designed, not hung.
But installation is not complex: download the DAMPWALL AR technical data sheet to find out how to insulate partition walls.
TECHNICAL NOTES FROM THE CONSTRUCTION SITE
For an acoustic system to work properly, installation is just as important as the material itself. Here are two key precautions of the DAMP System:
- Continuity of the material: when installing the acoustic underlay (e.g. Damptile), it is essential to turn the mat up along the perimeter walls using the specific edge strip in order to avoid "acoustic bridges".
- Sealing of the joints: the boards or rolls of the DAMP System must be perfectly butted together and sealed with technical adhesive tape in order to prevent "sound leakage".
In this regard, you can consult the DAMPTILE installation manual for the correct sealing of the joints
The added value: the Project For Building synergy
We do not just sell panels, we provide integrated solutions. The strength of Project For Building lies in the complete synergy between the technical team, production and sales.
Our technical department is in constant dialogue with production to refine materials and with the sales team to respond to the real challenges of construction sites.
This means that, by choosing DAMP, you will always have direct technical support capable of recommending the perfect build-up for your specific insulation goal.
Space for silence: horizontal and vertical
In the next features, we will explore the two core areas of our DAMP range in more depth:
- Vertical acoustics: for partition walls (e.g. Dampwall), to stop voices from neighbouring units and noise from the street
- Horizontal acoustics: acoustic underlays and subfloor solutions (e.g. Damparquet) to neutralise footstep noise and impact sounds
Choosing Project For Building means embracing a philosophy that combines acoustic engineering with sustainability.
Silence is a project, let’s build it together, promoting recycling and quality 🌿
