SKUDO – waterproofing panel for below-ground walls

Skudo is an element made of 100% recycled plastic, designed to protect the waterproofing of underground walls.

Thanks to its carefully engineered geometry, it ensures resistance to compression and to downward dragging caused by soil settlement, thereby preserving the waterproofing layer over time.

The thickness of the element (7.5 cm), combined with its particular shape made up of truncated cones and truncated pyramids, creates an air chamber of 65 l/m2. This air volume guarantees excellent ventilation while at the same time separating the waterproofing from soil humidity, eliminating the need for gravel backfill.

The shape and special plastic blend used to produce Skudo guarantee resistance to any type of soil used in backfilling.

ADVANTAGES

PROTECTION OF WATERPROOFING

Thanks to its strength, Skudo resists compression and downward dragging due to soil settlement, preserving the waterproofing layer over time.

Icon representing Skudo’s excellent ventilation performance

ELIMINATION OF GRAVEL

The air chamber created by Skudo guarantees excellent ventilation and separates the structure from ground humidity, making gravel unnecessary.

Icon representing air circulation ensured by Safe Roll and Skudo

EXCELLENT VENTILATION

Its height creates a large air chamber for ventilation and effective separation from soil humidity. A drainage channel at the base of the wall, where Skudo is placed, further enhances water collection and discharge.

EASY AND QUICK INSTALLATION

The special interlocking system allows easy and fast installation (see installation scheme). For proper vertical and horizontal alignment during installation, dowels are inserted into the dedicated slots.

SEPARATION FROM HUMIDITY

The height and special geometry of Skudo create an air chamber that guarantees excellent ventilation and prevents contact with soil humidity, eliminating the use of gravel.

EXTENDS THE BUILDING’S LIFESPAN

All these features make Skudo a reliable ally in protecting walls and extending the durability of the building.

A drainage channel should be created at the base of the wall to collect water, on which Skudo will be placed.

The special interlocking system allows quick and easy installation.

For correct vertical and horizontal adherence, dowels are inserted into the dedicated slots during installation. Corners closures are made using an L-shaped profile fixed directly to Skudo. Above the last element, a flashing or closure grid (supplied by the client) must be installed.

If necessary, Skudo can be cut with a standard saw or disc cutter.

It can also be used on underground walls without an additional waterproofing layer.

Construction of waterproofing protection and insulation of underground vertical structures by supplying and installing Skudo elements in recycled plastic, resistant to chemical and organic substances, size 59x59 cm, height 7.5 cm. The support bases provide a contact surface of 755 cm2/m2, preventing any damage to the waterproofing layer. The ventilation chamber of 65 l/m2, created by the truncated-cone supports, ensures compression resistance of at least 5000 kg/m2, protecting and separating the waterproofing layer from soil humidity. Thermal stability of the element ranges from -21°c to +53°C.

Installation is carried out from the bottom upwards, assembling the elements along the edges using the special interlocking system. Final vertical and horizontal adherence is ensured with dowels inserted into the dedicated slots

Corners are closed with L-profiles, while a flashing or closure grid is placed above the last element.

The Skudo plastic protection element is supplied with a Certificate of Conformity attesting the percentage of recycled plastic used (Plastica Seconda Vita, Second Life Plastic certification), in compliance with CAM requirements. It is manufactured by a company certified according to UNI EN ISO 9001 (Quality), UNI EN ISO 14001 (Environment), and ISO 45001 (Safety).
